Are rx7 owners assholes?

Asking for a friend. Buying rx parts and everyone is kinda rude or difficult. Maybe it’s me?

Saab people were just so nice, helpful... 7 people ... Why brah-ther.

someone asked my why...kidof like this....

lets say i want to buy something for my RX-7 here’s how that goes:

SELLER : listing : rx-7 light bulb - 100$

ME : contact seller with inquiry about price and shipping/retrieval, new bulb is only 95$, ask about any flexibility on price...

SELLER : Actually now it’s the last light bulb on earth and since someone finally wants it there is no way they are budging on their two month old advertised price. SOOOO RARE it’s almost JDM now....nevermind he wants to keep it to sleep with at night. NOT FOR SALE BRO. Additionally, only refers to me as brah/bro.

ME: Ok, i’ll just buy a new one, thanks for your time.

If i get them to sell me something, god forbid it be tracked or there be any follow up.

Rx-7's change you into an apocalyptic scavenger. You are food.

If I were buying this bulb for a Saab, they would have sent me two, included bulb grease, covered shipping and begged to talk to anyone with a pulse again.

They are lonely and their cats have gone outside, so every email is an excerpt from a travel log and they will basically call you to make sure the delicately packed bulb were unharmed.

with SAAB it is more like meeting people who have been released after being underground waiting for a nuclear fallout that never came. Other survivors! Would you like a can of tuna?

I’ve never met any rx7 owners that are downright jerks. There are always going to be some out there thought. In my experience, the older the rx7, the nicer the owner. But maybe it is just you... (The preceding has been an opinion from another rx7 owner)

Like many iconic Japanese sports cars from the 90s, the now owners of many of them have created a sort of stigma for that community. I do know of a few RX-* owners that are excellent people and do not put off an air of the “bro”type, but conversely I know of far more “JDM bros” that own RX-*, MKIII Supras, whatever EG Honda, old IS 300s, older WRXs, older EVOs, S13 240SXs (a lot of those); that sort of crowd. Granted, my particular area isn’t exactly a place for an automotive enthusiast to flourish simply because there is a general air of aggression or dislike amongst fellow motorists. I don’t know why, but most people just can’t... be excellent to each other.

So maybe it’s not RX-7 owners in particular. Maybe it’s just most people.

All the RX-7 customers I dealt with were either snobby assholes, or young dumb dipshits that barely knew what “rotary engine” meant.

Agree regarding the vintage. mines an FC so i guess i’m in the middle. Maybe i’m just having a bad week.
Im sure if my MIL goes out i’ll be happier, but right now it’s solid and i’m hunting for parts everyone is happy to advertise but noone is letting go of.

Maybe it’s because you’re calling them and telling them about a lower price instead of just buying the one w/ the lower price and leaving them the hell alone.

Yay for FC’s! (thats what I have) Maybe you just live in a part of the country where people love to brag about how many parts they have. At least you have people selling parts around you, I live in no-rx7 land.

Maybe, but to me it’s more of a feeling that you’re part of a community ( an the rotary shops do a great job, actually) vs a lot of owners who are like lone wolfs, licking old bones. Showing you it just so they can snatch it away and feel like they have something someone wants for a moment.

Oh yeah. I hate those types. People like that ruin the car hobby, because they’re trying to make it a business. A lot of old car circles are just happy to help keep another one on the road. But some people, all they see is $$$$$.

I think anybody who lists something online, and expects not have somebody make an offer on it, is a massive fool. Either that or they’ve only ever heard of the internet, and never tried using it before. Not nearly as bad though as the people who price something at 550% of its market value then type “NO LOW BALLERS!!!”.
